Port Athena Social Media Campaign

2021

Overview

This campaign was created for my communications 310 class as Washington State University. The class involved creating a brand idea, and executing a social media campaign for said brand over two week period. I created a brand called Port Athena, a second hand book-store that runs out of a van. This idea was based in Wellington, but grander plans would have it running all across New Zealand. This brand was very customer-based, and the marketing and social media decisions were driven on the basis of a small but loyal following for Port Athena.

What I Learnt

This campaign taught me a lot about social media, marketing, and the analytics required. This was one of my first full social media campaigns, from idea through to page creation and post execution. It was a lot of work to ensure all the content was ready for posting at consumers most receptive times. It was also great to learn how to use each platform in its own way, but keep the branding consistent across all platforms.

Programs Used

I used Microsoft Word to create the social media plan, and other files required for this course. The graphics for Port Athena were made using Canva, as well as the posts made on each platform. Weebly was used to build the brand’s website. As well as this, Google Analytics, and Instagram and Facebook Insights were used to create reachable goals for the brand.
